Cassina is awarded at the XXVIII Compasso d'Oro
On Thursday, June 20th at the ADI Design Museum, the 699 Superleggera chair by Gio Ponti and the Esosoft system by Antonio Citterio were awarded respectively a Compasso d’Oro Career Award and an Honourable Mention.
Soon became an icon of Italian design, the 699 Superleggera chair is a symbol of perfection and balance between solidity and lightness. The model has been produced non-stop by Cassina since 1957 and is the fruit of the master’s research and the experimental ability and expertise of the company and its carpenters. With this Compasso d’Oro, which adds to the other four won by Cassina since 1954, 699 Superleggera becomes part of the ADI Compasso d’Oro Historical Collection.
The debut project by Antonio Citterio with Cassina, Esosoft is a system designed for the living area characterised by an elegant and timeless design which draws upon contemporary production techniques. Thanks to the in-depth work of research and development carried out by Cassina, materials such as polyurethane with a percentage of polyols derived from biological sources and recycled PET wadding for the cushions, introduced as standard in all new upholstered products, have been implemented. With this recognition, Esosoft joins the projects by Cassina which have been awarded an Honourable Mention for their innovative and conscious soul.
