Innate - new Collectionsan Australian Textile Story
The inaugural Innate Textile collection celebrates the powerful and unique Australian landscape by weaving together elements of sophistication and superior craftmanship to forge a contemporary Australian aesthetic.
Innate Textiles begins a new chapter for two ardent disciples of fabric design, Fiona Spence and Wanda Jelmini. Their collaboration gives rise to a new interpretation of Australia: informal, relaxed, and sensual.
The creative spark for Innate Textiles is the very essence of the great southern land and the particular way it manifests on our aesthetic.
The first three Innate Textile collections are inspired by the artworks of prominent painter, Luke Sciberras. Sciberras’ work is firmly based in the textures, colours, symbols and history of natural Australia.
Two inaugural releases – Ilford, based on “Ilford Waratahs” (2022) and Territory, inspired by “Out of Katherine” (2016) were released during Maison et Objet 2024. A third release, Bilpin, based on “Rising Heat Bilpin” (2020) will be launched in 2025.
