Arte Veneziana Sub Umbra collection. Design by Tristan Auer.
Sub Umbra symbolises the union of light and shadow. Each object in the collection is an interplay of depth and reflection that seeks to capture the shifting nature of black, its transparencies, its glow, its way of holding light while letting it flow.
Black is vibration. Like graphite on paper, it brings depth and brightness. Pressed lightly, it veils the surface in soft shadow.
Pressed firmly, it catches the light, turning almost silver, reflective, alive.Lines emerge, dissolve, reappear, traces of movement and rhythm. This black is not static, it is a texture, a density, a material in constant transformation. This collection is testament to Arte Veneziana's mastery of glass engraving, where craftsmanship meets abstraction and technique becomes a language of light
Through Sub Umbra, Tristan Auer composes a space that is both structured and elusive, where design is not only seen but perceived.
Black must be respected. Nothing can corrupt it: it does not appeal to the eye, it does not awaken any sensuality. It is an instrument of the intellect, far more than the beautiful color of the palette or the prism.-Odilon Redon
The SUB UMBRA finish is available in DARK and LIGHT. It is made on extra-clear glass with engravings of varying width made on both sides of the sheet. The engraving is silvered and antiqued with different intensities depending on the version. The decoration on the visible (upper) side, in addition to being silvered, is then decorated with a brush and painted.
